Lausebuche Elspe, here Heidenstraße and Römerweg separate

The Römerweg is a prehistoric long-distance route that runs straight through the Sauerland from Bonn in a north-easterly direction and ends on the Brilon plateaus . Until the expansion of the federal highways, it was an important trade route on which long-distance trade flourished. He bears the name "Roman Path" wrongly, because movements of Roman troops are not detectable here. The structure of the road cannot be compared with Roman transport routes. It leads completely unpaved, not as is usual with Roman roads , over the heights and valleys of the Sauerland.
