history
First mention
In 1509 the place was mentioned for the first time in a document: "When you walk around the border, the border runs until 'Hair on the holy stick'."
Spelling of the first mention: uf der Hair
The border inspection between the "Ambte Windecken, Lande van Homberg, dat Landt, dat Land van der Markt, Stift van Collen and the rulership van Wildenberg", during which Derschlag, Baldenberg, Hüngringhausen, Halstenbach, Geislingen, Silberkuhle, Husten, Huppen, Eulen and Langenbach are mentioned. The certificate is in the Jülich-Berg II file in the capital archives in Düsseldorf. There the local situation of Hardt is described as follows: "... uf den Heoppen, van then straight up to the height and unf the hair to the holy stick."
Hardt initially only consisted of a single farm. This is also recorded in the Mercartor maps of 1541 and 1575. The three dominant areas Cologne, Berg and Wildenburg were marked by the Dreiherrenstein near Kamp. At the end of the 16th century, this unusually high monolith with a height of 1.60 m replaced the Kamper Grenzeiche (Campeich), which is still recorded on the Mercator map from 1575.
