Schneppenberg is one of the 106 localities of the Reichshof community in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

Location and description

Schneppenberg is located south of the Wiehltalsperre , the closest centers are Gummersbach (15 km northwest), Cologne (64 km west) and Siegen (39 km southeast).

First mention

In 1500 the place was mentioned for the first time in a document: In a bill of exchange about the exchange of Hörige between Berg and Sayn it is mentioned: "Old Peter's daughter from Sneppenberg, who was Bergisch but is now Saynisch with all the children."

The spelling of the first mention was Sneppenberg .
