Rüdigsdorf is a district of the large district town of Nordhausen in Thuringia .

Geographical location

Center of Rüdigsdorf

Rüdigsdorf is located about 4.5 km north-northeast of Nordhausen city center in a spring basin in Rüdigsdorf Switzerland , part of the gypsum karst landscape of the southern Harz . The neighboring village to the south is Petersdorf , Harzungen to the north and Buchholz to the east . The hamlet is surrounded by mixed deciduous forests, orchards , hedges , grassland and fields.

Rüdigsdorf can only be reached from Nordhausen- Krimderode via a narrow connecting road.

history

Church of St. Jacobi in Rüdigsdorf

The hamlet can be traced back to a Franconian foundation. Rüdigsdorf was first mentioned in a document on December 19, 1271, then in 1334 and 1370. The oldest forms of name are Rudigsdorf and Rudigestorf . Its seven courtyards are grouped around the Protestant village church of St. Jacobi in the center. The nearby Giebichenhagen was an old Germanic forest of idols; there was sacrificed to the Wodan .

As an imperial village, it was not subject to the Gaugericht until 1436 , but to the court of the Holy Empire of Stuhle in Nordhausen. Every year at Pentecost, the residents had to deliver stones for the construction of the city wall in Nordhausen. The last boundary stone between Rüdigsdorf and Nordhausen was called "The poor Sünderstein" because the criminals were exchanged between the city and the count on it. In 1806, French troops were in the place.

After the dissolution of the Count's Stolberg-Hohnsteinschen chancellery in Neustadt, Rüdigsdorf belonged to the Ilfeld district since 1882 and to the Hohenstein district since 1932 . On March 23, 1993 Rüdigsdorf was incorporated into Nordhausen; Rüdigsdorf has neither a local council nor a district mayor.

At the south-western entrance to the town there was a more recent expansion.

On December 31, 2007 the place had 81 inhabitants.

The Pustefest has been celebrated in Rüdigsdorf since 1866 . Originally it was a "sporting event" organized by Nordhausen craftsmen and merchants according to self-imposed rules. The aim is to find the most accurate blowgun shooter . As a rule, 40 to 50 participants come to Rüdigsdorf after a walk - the locals initially did not take part. The battle cry in the competition is: good air! . There is a club flag, even printed programs and a number of songs that should be heard on the march to the pub and during the competition. The competition honors the Püstrich , a pot-bellied, peculiar metal figure in the Sondershausen Castle Museum .
