In the west, Rühler Schweiz is bounded by the upper Weser valley . In the south the Forstbachtal forms the border. There are no sharp orographic boundaries to the rest of Vogler to the east and north . Although part of the Vogler region, Rühler Schweiz is mostly perceived as an independent landscape. This is also reflected in the tourism marketing. The highest elevation within Rühler Switzerland is the Große Schweinsberg ( 329  m above sea  level ).

Rühler Schweiz is made up of limestone . Its water permeability makes the area relatively dry. Rühler Switzerland is used for agriculture and forestry. Arable farming takes place in the flatter areas. The beech dominates forestry. The steep slopes in Rühler Schweiz are not suitable for arable farming. As far as they are not forested, grazing is carried out there. Sun-exposed slopes in particular are used for fruit growing, with cherry trees predominating. During the cherry blossom season, which usually coincides with the flowering of the numerous sloe bushes , Rühler Switzerland recorded an increased number of visitors.

The streets of Rühler Schweiz with their numerous curves are one of the most popular motorcycle routes in northern Germany. Ambitious cyclists use the roads of Rühler Schweiz as an alternative to the Weser valley.

Alternatively, the top of the pass can also be approached from Lütgenade from the south via Kreisstraße 33. This street with a maximum gradient of 7% joins the south ramp.
