Rəşad Fərhad oğlu Sadıqov (often written in German as Raschad Sadigow ; born June 16, 1982 in Baku , AsSSR ) is an Azerbaijani football player and former captain of the Azerbaijani national team . He is under contract with the Azerbaijani first division club Qarabağ Ağdam .
youth
Rəşad started playing soccer while he was at the youth soccer sports school. At that time he played in Baku for Şərur , for the soccer team of the Azerbaijani Air Force and Real Baku .
Career
He signed his first professional contract with Turan Tavuz in 1999 , but only played 9 times there. At the end of the 2000/01 season, the defender moved to Neftçi Baku . In 2002 he played for Foolad Ahvaz in Iran . Upon his return to Neftçi, Rashad won the national championship and the cup and continued to enjoy success by surviving the first qualifying round of the Champions League with the black and whites. He played 8 times at European level for Neftçi: 2 times qualifying UEFA Cup 2001/02 , 2 times qualifying Champions League 2004/05 , 4 times qualifying Champions League 2005/06 . He moved to Turkey to play for Kayserispor in 2005-06 . He actually planned to return to Neftçi. But the Azerbaijani Football Association closed the transfer list earlier, so Sadıqov temporarily switched to basketball and for a time played as a defender at the Azerbaijani NTD Service Dewon . In his first game he even made 13 points. In the winter break of the 2008/09 season he moved from PFC Neftçi Baku to the Turkish first division club Kocaelispor . After a year he returned to Azerbaijan to see Qarabağ Ağdam . Shortly before the end of the transfer period of the 2010/11 season, the international moved again to Turkey, this time to Eskişehirspor . Here he had a contract until 2012. Then he went back to Qarabağ Ağdam, where he still plays today.
National team
Sadıqov played in youth national teams in his home country. For the senior national team , he played in a total of 112 games from 2001 to 2017.
Awards
Sadıqov was voted Azerbaijan's Footballer of the Year in 2004, 2005, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2017 by an Azerbaijani sports magazine , making him the record holder of this award.
