During lunchtime until 2018, during the week of RTL ZWEI News and on Saturday evening there was another issue as RTL II Newsflash . In addition, for 15 years until the end of 2017, RTL ZWEI showed the half-hour weekly magazine Das Nachrichtenjournal from Sunday to Monday . This was moderated alternately by Christian Ehrig , Julia Albrecht , Julia Gühlholtz and Tim Korge.

Since September 2018, RTL ZWEI News has only been broadcast from Monday to Friday.

    history

Since the start of broadcasting on March 6, 1993, RTL ZWEI News has always been produced by an independent and independent editorial team. From March 6, 1993 to May 25, 1999, it was produced in Hamburg on the Studio Hamburg premises . Initially, the news was called RTL II Action News and was renamed RTL II Nachrichten in 1996 . From 1998 to 2019 the program was called RTL II News. Since October 7, 2019, the news program has been called RTL ZWEI News. After moving to RTL in Cologne , the program was produced there from May 26, 1999 to January 18, 2015. In January 2015, the editorial team moved to Berlin, where they have been producing the program since January 19, 2015. Since January 2019, the RTL ZWEI News will be broadcast again in Cologne on RTL , the production is taken over by the RTL media group infoNetwork, which produce , among others, RTL Aktuell or Guten Morgen Deutschland . For this, the own editorial office in Berlin will be completely dissolved after 25 years, the editorial office will be shared with the RTL media group.

    Relaunch 2015

On December 1, 2015, a major relaunch was carried out and the new broadcast studio was inaugurated. Previously, broadcasts were made from the so-called green box with a virtual studio, but now viewers are supplied with news from a real, recordable editorial studio. Viewers can now see how the editors work and produce the articles.

    Changes in 2019

In July 2018 it was announced that RTL II News will in future be produced by Infonetwork, the media group's production subsidiary for news and magazines from Mediengruppe RTL . Associated with this is the closure of production and the editorial office in Berlin and a move to Cologne. The first broadcast came back from Cologne on January 2, 2019, and RTL II News came out of the green box again. The on-air design introduced in 2015 (in blue and concrete look) remained unchanged. The intro was shortened a bit to offer more options in the broadcast; because the RTL II News has only been running for 10 minutes since September 3, 2018. Since September 2, 2019, RTL II News has only been running for 5 minutes.

In October 2019, the station changed the name (from the spelling), which is why the news program is no longer called RTL II News, but RTLzwei News. The on air design introduced in 2015 remained unchanged; only the new logo was integrated.
