history

The area around Radkersburg shares the history of Bad Radkersburg. The abolition of the manorial system took place in 1848. The local communities Altneudörfl , Dedenitz , Goritz , Pridahof , Laafeld , Sicheldorf and Zelting emerged as autonomous bodies in 1850.

After the end of the First World War, there were disputes with the national government for Slovenia and Istria from Ljubljana ( Ljubljana ) about the territory to which they belong. After the annexation by Austria in 1938, the municipalities came to Reichsgau Steiermark and from 1945 to 1955 they were part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

In 1969 the municipality of Radkersburg Umgebung was established from parts of the old municipality Altneudörfl, from Dedenitz (Slovenian: Dedonci), Goritz (Gorca), from parts of Laafeld (Potrna), Sicheldorf (Zetince), Zelting (Zenkovci), Pridahof, Hummersdorf, and Pfarrsdorf as well from the part of the cadastral community of Kellerdorf in Austria.

On January 1, 2015, the municipality was merged with the municipality of Bad Radkersburg as part of the municipal structural reform in Styria . The new municipality continues the name of the city of Bad Radkersburg .

Population development

Since 1869 the population has remained relatively constant between 1734 and 2218 inhabitants, with the number peaking in 1910 and having the lowest value today (see figure below, according to Statistics Austria).
