Dominque Raheem Mostert (* 9. April 1992 in Daytona Beach , Florida ) is an American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played college football for Purdue University . After brief employment with six different teams, he has been under contract with the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL) since 2016 .

college

Mostert played college football from 2011 to 2014 . He attended Purdue University and played there for the Purdue Boilermakers in the NCAA Division I FBS. He was mainly employed as a return specialist . In addition, he initially played as a wide receiver, but received hardly any time in this position. As a running back, he hardly played a role in his last two years in college. Mostert was considered one of the fastest college football players of his day. In addition to the football team, Mostert was also active for the Purdue athletics team. In 2014 he won the championships of the Big Ten Conference over 100 and 200 meters and over 60 and 200 meters indoors.

NFL

Mostert was not selected in the 2015 NFL Draft and was subsequently signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an Undrafted Free Agent . Despite a strong preseason in which he led the NFL in Rushing Yards, he failed to make the jump into the 53-man squad for the regular season and was fired to be accepted into the Eagles' Practice Squad shortly afterwards . On September 14th, the Miami Dolphins brought Mostert to their regular squad. With the Dolphins, Mostert came to his first NFL appearance when he carried back two kicks for 57 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2 . On October 13, he was released and signed to the Baltimore Ravens via the waiver list . With the Ravens he was used as a kick returner for a few weeks before he was released again on December 15th. Again he was taken directly by the next team, the Cleveland Browns secured the rights to Mostert. He was used as a returner in the last three games and signed a new contract for the 2016 season , but was removed from the squad just before the start of the regular season.

This was followed by a few days in the New York Jets Practice Squad , from which he was released after a few days. A little later, the Chicago Bears brought Mostert for their Practice Squad and promoted him to the active squad for two games on September 21, until the end of November he was back in the Bears Practice Squad. In December he then signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers , where he also received a place in the 53-man squad a little later.

In the 2017 season Mostert was mainly used as a gunner in the special teams , before he was placed on the injured reserve list at the end of November due to an inner ligament injury .

In 2018 Mostert appeared in nine games for San Francisco. He gained 261 yards of space in 34 runs and recorded seven tackles in the special teams. In the game against the Oakland Raiders in week 9, he set a new career record with 86 yards, and he also had his first touchdown in the NFL. However, Mostert broke his arm in this game, which ended the season for him. On November 2, 2018, he was placed on the Injured Reserve List again.

Prior to the 2019 season , Mostert signed a new $ 8.7 million three-year deal with the 49ers. He started the season as the third running back on the Depth Chart behind Matt Breida and Tevin Coleman . In week 13 Mostert ran 146 yards and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens , since then he has increasingly established himself in the backfield of the 49ers.

As the best team of the regular season in the National Football Conference (NFC), the Niners moved into the play-offs and met the Minnesota Vikings in the Divisional Round . Mostert captured a fumble in the game after Minnesota's returner Marcus Sherels dropped a punt and ran twelve times for 58 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with a calf injury. In the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers Mostert was able to call up his best performance to date. With four touchdowns and 220 yards, he was a major factor in the 37:20 victory and entry into Super Bowl LIV . He was the first NFL player to run at least 200 yards and four touchdowns in a play-off game and set a new record for a championship game. Only Eric Dickerson ran in the play-offs with 248 yards in the Divisional Round, more yards than Mostert.
