Raimund Bauer (set designer)

Raimund Bauer (* 1955 in Heiligkreuz, Bavaria ) is a German set designer. He is professor for stage space at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts .

Career

Raimund Bauer studied stage design at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the University of Applied Arts Vienna . He passed his diploma examination with distinction. He received the advancement award of the city of Vienna. Bauer was Erich Wonder's assistant in Cologne.

From 1988 he established himself as a freelance set designer and worked at the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Schauspielhaus Zurich . He has also created sets for opera productions, such as at the Semperoper in Dresden.

At the RuhrTriennale 2007 he coordinated the room installation Teatrum Mundi . At the Bregenz Festival 2009 he was awarded the German Opus stage prize for the production of the opera Król Roger by Karol Maciej Szymanowski . In 2015 he received the Rolf Mares Prize for his stage design in the play Der Vater in Hamburg's St. Pauli Theater . In 2016 he was responsible for the set design for La Traviata at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden .
