The Petrowski rajon ( Russian Петровский район ) is a Rajon in the Russian Oblast of Saratov . The administrative center is the independent city of Petrovsk .

Geography and nature

Geographical location

The Petrowski rajon is located in the northern part of Saratov Oblast , about 100 kilometers northwest of the city of Saratov and borders on the Penza Oblast to the north . The Rajon is located in the wooded mountain ranges of the Volga plateau . There is a moderate continental climate .

Waters

The Rajon is crossed centrally by the Medveditsa . At the level of the city of Petrovsk , the river deviates from its previous east-west direction and continues to flow south from here.
