The Rajon Sobor ( Ukrainian Соборний район Sobornyj rayon , Russian Соборный район Soborni rayon ) is one of eight counties ( Rajone ) the city Dnipro , the Oblastzentrums the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in the Ukraine .
The Stadtrajon is located in the south-eastern part of the city on the right Dneprufer and with 168,021 inhabitants (2008) is the second most populous administrative district of Dnipro. It has an area of about 44.093 km².
The raion was called from March 15, 1936 to November 26, 2015 Shovtneve Rajon , the name is derived from the Ukrainian word for October and refers to the October Revolution of the Bolsheviks in 1917. On November 26, 2015 it was decommunized in Sobor Raion , which comes from the word Sobor (Ukrainian Собор ) for cathedral and refers to the Transfiguration Cathedral located in Stadtrajon . The Rajon was founded on March 15, 1936.
Breakdown
The district consists of the historic villages of Lotsmanska Kamjanka in the extreme south of the urban district on the Dnieper and Mandrykivka , between which there is now Peremoha (Ukrainian Перемога , Russian победа , translated "victory"), a large-scale housing estate consisting of Khrushchevkas . This is continuously built up on the side leaning against the river for a long stretch, and is therefore called the “Great Wall of China” (Ukrainian “китайська стіна” ) by the inhabitants . In the north is the historical city center Nahirni (Ukrainian Нагірний ).

Buildings and sights
A popular local recreation area throughout the city is the monastery island, which is separated from the right Dneprufer by the Bishop Canal and is located in the northern part of the district and is part of the 360,000 m² Shevchenko Park , which was formerly entirely the lieutenant general, favorite and lover of Tsarina Katharina Belonged to great Grigory Alexandrovich Potemkin .
