Ralph E. Erickson

Ralph E. Erickson (born October 3, 1928 in Jamestown , New York ) is a former American attorney who was temporarily also the United States Attorney General .

Life

After attending school, Erickson first studied at Cornell University and graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science (BS). A subsequent postgraduate study of law at the Law School of Harvard University , he finished in 1955 with a Juris Doctor (JD). After his admission to the bar, he became a lawyer in California in 1956 .

After 15 years as a lawyer, he entered government service in 1971, initially serving as Assistant Attorney General Head of the Office of Legal Counsel at the US Department of Justice . He was then Deputy Attorney General between 1972 and 1973 and thus Deputy Minister of Justice.

Erickson retired from civil service in 1973 and returned to the District of Columbia as a lawyer, most recently with the Jones Day law firm , a Washington, DC office with 2,200 attorneys today
