George J. Terwilliger

George J. Terwilliger III (born June 5, 1950 in New Brunswick , New Jersey ) is an American lawyer who was also Deputy US Attorney General .

Life

After attending school, Terwilliger first studied at Seton Hall University and finished this course in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA). He then completed postgraduate studies in law at the Law School of Antioch University in 1978 with a Juris Doctor (JD).

After his subsequent admission to the District of Columbia in 1978, he practiced as a lawyer and was also admitted to the United States Supreme Court and the State of Vermont in 1982 . During his time as a lawyer, he was also involved in legal organizations such as the American Bar Association and was also a member of the Legal Policy Advisory Board of the Washington Legal Foundation and the Legal Advisory Board of the National Legal Center for the Public Interest . In addition, he was at times legal advisor to the conglomerate Tyco International .

He then succeeded George Cook in 1986 as the Vermont District Attorney and held that office until 1990. From 1991 to 1993 he was US Deputy Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General in the administration of US President George Bush . After retiring from government service, he returned to practice as a lawyer and since 2004 has been a partner of White & Case , a commercial law firm that operates in 25 countries around the world. In addition, Terwilliger has been a member of the Board of Directors of DynaMotive Energy Systems Corporation since 2006 .
