history

The community was first mentioned in documents in 1367: as Remlisperg. It was not until the beginning of the 19th century that the ending -berg became common. In the 15th century, the place consisted of only two independent farms, Ober- and Niederramlisberg, and belonged to Henman Sevogel . From him ownership passed to the city of Basel and developed into a village in the 16th century. Since 1987 there has been an ecumenically operated church next to the cemetery.
