Location of the parish |
Randerup Sogn (formerly Randrup ) is a parish municipality (Danish Sogn ) in North Schleswig , Denmark . It is located northwest of the town of Tønder (Eng. Tondern ). Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Tønder, Højer og Lø Herred in what was then Tønder Amt , then to Bredebro Kommune in what was then Sønderjyllands Amt , which was merged into the "new" Tønder Kommune in the Syddanmark region as part of the local government reform on January 1, 2007 .
Municipal area
Randerup is one of the smallest communities in North Schleswig and covers only 10.3 km². Only 115 people were still living in the municipality on January 1, 2020, which, like many rural communities, has experienced a sharp decline in population. At the last census in 1960, 183 people lived here, a century earlier it was 260.
The community lies on two relatively flat tongues , which are separated from each other by the Vesterlund Bæk lowland. In the northeast, the municipality borders on Brede Å ( Breder Au ), one of the largest watercourses in the region.
The most important settlement focus is the parish village of Randerup, which lies in the middle of the municipality. In the north lies the small settlement of Lunde, in the south the Randeruper Heide, the development of which is usually called Hedehusene.
Neighboring communities are Ballum Sogn in the west, Mjolden Sogn (German: Medolden ) in the north, Brede Sogn in the east and Skast Sogn (German: Schads ) in the south .
history
Originally Randerup belonged to the judicial and administrative district of the Lo harde . In the 13th century, most of the community came into the possession of the Bishop of Ribe (Eng. Ripen ). Since this was a Danish imperial prelate, these possessions came to the Kingdom of Denmark in the 15th century and not, like the surrounding area, to the Duchy of Schleswig . The latter only included the part of the community that belonged to Løgumkloster (German Lügumkloster ).
After the Reformation, the episcopal property came to the now noble Trøjborg ( Troiburg ), but remained part of the kingdom as an enclave. In the 19th century the name Loharde was reintroduced for the manor district.
After the war of 1864 , the entire community became part of Prussia and in 1867 became a rural community in the Tondern district . In the referendum on February 10, 1920, 130 residents voted for Denmark and only eight for Germany. Despite its small size and the further decreasing population, Randerup remained an independent parish in the Tondern office until the local reform in 1970. Afterwards Randerup belonged to the municipality Bredebro in Sønderjyllands Amt . In 2007 it became part of the greater Tønder municipality.
Attractions
The small Romanesque Laurentiuskirche is lonely north of the church village. Its oldest part, the choir, consists partly of Rhenish tuff , which indicates a certain prosperity of the small community in the 12th century. The altar from the 16th century is valuable.
The church ruins of Randrup are on the outskirts .
traffic
The roads are only of local importance. The nearest railway stations are in Bredebro and Døstrup (dt. Döstrup ), six kilometers southeast and northeast of Randerup, on the route of the Marsh Railway .
