Døstrup Sogn ( dt .: Döstrup ) is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) in Northern Schleswig in southern Denmark . Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Tønder, Højer og Lø Herred in what was then Tønder Amt , then to Skærbæk Kommune in what was then Sønderjyllands Amt , which was merged into the "new" Tønder Kommune in the region of Syddanmark as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .
Municipal area
The parish of Døstrup covers an area of 40.37 km². The northeast lies on the Hohe Geest , while the southwest two thirds are very flat.
Today Døstrup has 707 inhabitants (as of January 1st, 2020). At the 1925 census, 1,023 people lived in the community. The church village of Døstrup in the west, with 345 inhabitants, together with Vinum ( Winum ) to the north-east of it, forms the main settlement area. Smaller villages are Tevring (German: Teuring ) in the north, Overby and Lovrup (German: Laurup ) in the east and Drengsted (German: Drengstedt ) in the south.
Neighboring municipalities are Skærbæk Sogn (German: Scherrebek ), Arrild Sogn , Nørre Løgum Sogn (German: Norderlügum ), Brede Sogn and Mjolden Sogn (German: Medolden ). 21 km south-southwest is the city of Tønder (German: Tondern ), 24 km to the north is the city of Ribe (German: Ripen ).
history
Originally a part of the Loharde, most of the community came into the possession of the bishop and other church institutions in Ripen in the Middle Ages. This belonged to the Kingdom of Denmark until 1864 and not like the surrounding area and the rest of the municipality to the Duchy of Schleswig . In the Middle Ages, the parts of Schleswig belonged partly to aristocratic estates and after their purchase by the sovereign to the Hvidingharde of the Hadersleben Office , partly to the Lügum Monastery and, after the Reformation, to the Schwanstrup Bailiwick of the Lügumkloster Office.
In 1864 the entire area fell to Prussia . After 1867 the community was divided into the rural communities Döstrup, Winum, Overby (including Teuring), Laurup and Drengstedt. In 1920 Döstrup became a unified parish in the Kingdom of Denmark, which was under the Tondern office . In 1970 she came politically to Skærbæk Municipality and in 2007 to Tønder Municipality.

Döstrup is the train station of the Marschbahn .
Attractions
The stone church of St. Laurentius with its tower that can be seen from afar dates back to the Romanesque period.
