Hostrup Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) in the region of Syddanmark , Denmark . It belonged to Harde Slogs Herred in what was then Tønder Amt until 1970 , then to Tønder Kommune in what was then Sønderjyllands Amt , which was merged into the "new" Tønder Kommune in the Syddanmark region as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .

Municipal area

The municipality has an area of 38.2 km². On January 1, 2020, 1,019 people lived in the parish.

Neighboring communities are in the west the parish Tønder Sogn (German Tondern ), in the north Højst Sogn (German Hoist ), in the east Burkal Sogn (German Buhrkall ) and in the southwest Ubjerg Sogn (German Uberg ). On January 1, 2009, the municipality was expanded to include the part of Burkal Sogn, which was part of the Tønder municipality . Since then, the municipality has bordered Germany in the eastern part of its southern border.

In addition to the church village of Hostrup, the villages of Rørkær (German Rohrkarr ), Jeising and Solderup form the main settlement areas. All four formed their own rural communities during the Prussian period.

history

Hostrup was first mentioned in 1231 in the Waldemar earth book of King Waldemar the Victor .

In the referendum in Schleswig on the national affiliation to Germany or Denmark on February 10, 1920, 285 eligible voters voted for Germany (49%) and 299 (51%) for Denmark. The limit had already been set, however, as Hostrup had been beaten to the first voting zone, in which only the overall result counted. From then on, Hostrup formed a parish in the new Danish office of Tondern.

Economy and Transport

Hostrup is primarily characterized by agriculture. The proportion of commuters, especially to neighboring Tønder ( Tondern in German  ), is high.

The main artery is the trunk road 8 from Tønder via Tinglev (German Tingleff ) and Kruså ( German  Krusau ) to Sønderborg ( German  Sonderburg ) in an east-west direction.

The Tønder – Tinglev ( Tondern – Tingleff ) railway with stations in Rørkær ( German:  Rohrkarr ) and Jeising was closed to passenger traffic in 1974 and completely shut down in 2004, although a reopening of the railway is being discussed.

Places with the same name

The name Hostrup is not uncommon. There is another church village, Hostrup, near Esbjerg . In Nordschleswig there are two other villages of the same name to the west (municipality of Egvad , German Ekwatt ) and south (municipality of Ensted , German Enstedt ) of Aabenraa (German Aabenraa ), which are called Norder- and Süder-Hostrup to distinguish them from one another. In Südschleswig a village Hostrup is located in the municipality Havetoft between Schleswig and Flensburg in the western fishing .
