The Ranschgraben , also known as Waldgraben and Bruchgraben , is a good 18 km long flowing water in Rhineland-Palatinate and a left tributary of the Rehbach . It draws its water mainly from the Speyerbach , from which it is derived to the left. With its entire length it flows in the Vorderpfalz and within the alluvial fan formed by the Speyerbach in the south and the Rehbach in the north.

geography

course

The Ranschgraben runs on the original geological drainage line of the Speyerbach . It does not have its own spring , but separates about 200 m west of the Fronmühle belonging to the local community of Haßloch at an altitude of about 115  m with the smaller part of the water volume from the Speyerbach to the left. It initially flows parallel to this at a distance of around 300 m to the north, until it turns more and more towards the northeast in the area of the Haßloch Holiday Park and enters the Speyer Forest . It passes Iggelheim to the south and Hanhofen to the north, before flowing around Schifferstadt to the south and east. To the north of Limburgerhof-Rehhütte , it joins the Rehbach from the left at a height of 95  m , after having even crossed it a few hundred meters earlier at Limburgerhof-Kohlhof from the right.

Tributaries

Numerous smaller ditches run towards the Ranschgraben, all of which have their origins in agricultural irrigation . The longest are the river and Neugraben on the left (about 5 km each), and Kandel and Kleinlandgraben on the right (about 5.5 and 8 km respectively). Like the Ranschgraben, the Kandelgraben is a left derivative of the Speyerbach.

Nature reserves

The Ranschgraben crosses the Lehenbruch and Böhler Bruch-Kandelwiese nature reserves established in 1988 and 1981 respectively , both of which are located in the district of Böhl-Iggelheim.
