The village Ransdorf is a rotting of the Lower Austrian municipality Lichtenegg .

geography

Ransdorf is located in Bucklige Welt (southern Lower Austria, Wiener Neustadt-Land district ) at an altitude of approx. 724 m. The village is 6 km from the federal highway 55 (junction at Weißes Kreuz). The traffic connection is given via the A2, exit Krumbach.

Adjacent to the village of Ransdorf are the Rotten Amlos and Purgstall (municipality of Lichtenegg) and the village of Wiesfleck ( municipality of Thomasberg ).

history

Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg , which was the main town for the entire north-east Noricum . Later under the Romans, today's Ransdorf belonged to the province of Pannonia .

School lessons were given in Ransdorf from 1824 to 1972. After the school moved to the central town of Lichtenegg, the building was used for a wide variety of purposes. In 1996 the former school building was renovated and the RIZ start-up center Bucklige Welt moved in.

Culture and sights

  • Chapel "Maria Pain"; the village chapel was built in 1957 according to plans by August Glatz. Parts of the furnishings are in a neo-baroque style. The lecture cross dates from 1880 and was taken over from the old village chapel.
  • Steinbruchstadl; this barn is mainly the venue for the quarry festival and the Oktoberfest of the local volunteer fire brigade .

A public children's playground was created by the community in the center of the village.
