Right not revenge (original title Murderers Among Us: The Simon Wiesenthal Story ) is a film drama from the year 1989 , that the life story of Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal says.

The US Army reached Mauthausen concentration camp on May 5, 1945 . In the midst of all the horror and the half-dead prisoners who received the GIs , there is Simon Wiesenthal.

Just a few days after his liberation, he was able to identify a leading SS-Obersturmführer from the concentration camp in the nearby town of Mauthausen and hand him over to the authorities. This marked the beginning of his unprecedented career as a Nazi hunter.

At the same time, he and his wife Cyla Wiesenthal can start a new business in Austria . Miraculously, she too survived the horror. Soon afterwards both have a daughter - Paulina - who often cannot understand why her father obsessively pursues people like Adolf Eichmann .

His aim is to demand justice and not to seek revenge.

The film was shot in Austria and the Czech Republic .

It was Ben Kingsley's first of three film roles in which he would play a Jew in the Holocaust. The two follow-up projects were Schindler's List in 1994 and Anne Frank in 2001 .

A mistake concerns the portrayal of Wiesenthal's daughter Pauline (in the film Paulina ), who was born in 1946. In the film, she is between 15 and 17 years old when the bomb attack on her father's apartment in Vienna was carried out in 1982 ; in fact, she was 36 years old at the time.
