The new Duchy of Straubing-Holland

The Regensburg Treaty is a treaty concluded on June 3, 1353 in Regensburg between the Wittelsbach dukes Stephan II , Wilhelm I and Albrecht I , in which the three sons of Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria divided their Lower Bavarian inheritance among themselves.

Stephan II received the south of Lower Bavaria with the capital Landshut and thus founded the partial duchy of Bavaria-Landshut , which was to last until the reunification of Bavaria in 1503. Wilhelm I and Albrecht I received the Dutch counties of Hainaut , Holland , Zeeland and Friesland as well as the " Straubinger Ländchen ". This stretched from Dietfurt in the west to Schärding in the east and from Furth im Wald in the north to Dingolfing in the south. The partial duchy of Straubing-Holland was ruled from Straubing and The Hague and existed until 1425/29 .
