Rehfeld is a district of the town of Falkenberg / Elster in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg and is located about seven kilometers west of the city center on the Cottbus – Falkenberg / Elster – Leipzig railway line .
history
Rehfeld is believed to have been founded by the Antonites in the middle of the 13th century.
The Thirty Years' War brought serious devastation to Rehfeld . The area between the Elbe and the Schwarzer Elster suffered particularly hard at that time. So that at the end of the war almost every village was affected. In the winter of 1636/37 the place was plundered by the Swedish soldiers of General Banér , who had taken their winter quarters a few kilometers away in Torgau an der Elbe, and almost completely burned down together with the church and school. The troops roamed the entire area down to the smallest corner. The villages were plundered, harassed, burned down and in Rehfeld only three houses were spared. At the same time, there were repeated devastating plague epidemics , which also decimated the local population.
Rehfeld originally belonged to the Schweinitz office and as a result of the provisions of the Congress of Vienna in 1815 came to the Torgau district of the Prussian province of Saxony . In the course of the administrative reform of 1952 in the GDR , the place was incorporated into the Herzberg district.
The incorporation into the city of Falkenberg / Elster took place together with Beyern, Kölsa, Großrössen and Kleinrössen on December 31, 2001.
