Renate Rungger
Renate Rungger (born September 6, 1979 in Bolzano ) is an Italian long-distance runner . Rungger lives in the Sarntal community .
The athlete, who comes from a family of enthusiastic runners, achieved her first major success when she set a South Tyrolean national record in the half marathon in Udine in 1:13:28 h in 2002 .
After that, they focused on rail passes , in 2005 Italian champion in the 10,000-meter race and finished a year later over the same distance at the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg the 18th Place.
In 2007 she turned back to road running , improved her national record to 1:13:08 h as the winner of the Turin Half Marathon and set another South Tyrolean record at her premiere over the full distance as sixth of the Venice Marathon with 2:41:06 h on, remaining under Edith Niederfriniger's old brand for over six minutes .
In 2008, after finishing second in the South Tyrolean Spring Half Marathon, she surprisingly became vice world champion in mountain running behind the Austrian Andrea Mayr . At the Maratona d'Italia she was sixth overall and fourth in the Italian marathon championship and achieved a time of 2:39:59 h on the route that was not suitable for the best in the list because of its gradient.
The athlete, nicknamed "Reni", is 1.66 m and weighs 50 kg. After her graduation, she worked as an editor at Athesia , before she became a professional runner. She is the mother of a daughter and a son and is in a relationship with the long-distance runner Eduard Lahner. Like her runner colleague Silvia Weissteiner , she is employed by the forest guard.
