Rechnoje ( Russian Речное , German  Magottes , Lithuanian Magučiai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg region (Prussia) ) and belongs to the Znamenskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Znamensk (Wehlau) ) in Gwardeisk district ( Tapiau district ).

Geographical location

Rechnoje is located on the southern bank of the Pregel (Russian: Pregolja) and north of the Kaliningrad – Nesterow railway line (Königsberg – Stallupönen / Ebenrode) . It is eight kilometers to the former district town of Znamensk (Wehlau) and six kilometers to the present capital of the Rajons, Gwardeisk (Tapiau) . The place can be reached from the Russian trunk road R 508 via a spur road. There is no rail connection.

history

The village, which was called Magotten until 1946 , was probably founded before 1436. Before 1945 it consisted of a few larger and smaller courtyards. In 1875 Magotten was incorporated into the newly established district of Kleinhof (which was dissolved in the town of Gwardeisk), which existed until 1945 and belonged to the district of Wehlau in the district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . 139 inhabitants were registered in Magottes in 1910. The number fell to 113 by 1933 and was 106 in 1939.

In 1945 Magottes came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia in the wake of the war and in 1946 was given the Russian name "Rechnoje". In 1947 the place "changed" from the Wehlau district to the newly created Gwardeisk district ( Tapiau district ) and was incorporated into the Bolschepoljanski selskoje soviet (Dorfsovjet Bolschaja Polyana (Paterswalde) ). Due to a comprehensive structural and administrative reform, Rechnoje is now with its 16 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) a "settlement" ( Russian possjolok ) classified place within the Znamenskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Znamensk (Wehlau) ).

church

With its predominantly Protestant population, Magottes was parish into the parish of the Tapiau town church (today Russian: Gwardeisk) until 1945 . It belonged to the church district Wehlau within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Even today, Rechnoje is in the catchment area of Gwardeisk (Tapiau) , whose parish church still exists, but today serves as a place of worship for the Russian Orthodox Church . In Gwardeisk there is also an Evangelical Lutheran congregation, which is a subsidiary congregation of the Resurrection Church in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) in the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
