Jelnjaki ( Russian Ельняки , German  Frischenau ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Gvardeysk in Gvardeysky District .

Geographical location

Jelnjaki is located six kilometers southeast of the Rajon town of Gwardeisk (Tapiau) at the confluence of the municipal road 27K-065 from Druzhba (Allenburg) with the regional road 27A-025 (ex R508 ). The nearest train stations Gwardeisk and Znamensk (Wehlau) on the Kaliningrad – Chernyshevskoje railway line (Königsberg – Eydtkuhnen / Eydtkau) are each five kilometers away.

The founding date of the village with forestry, called Frischenau until 1946, was in the year 1368. In 1874 the place was transferred to the newly established administrative district Kleinhof (in the urban area of ​​Tapiau or Gwardeisk). It belonged to 1945 the county Wehlau in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910, Frischenau and the Schäfereihof district had a total of 169 inhabitants.
