Jelnjaki ( Russian Ельняки , German Frischenau ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Gvardeysk in Gvardeysky District .
Geographical location
Jelnjaki is located six kilometers southeast of the Rajon town of Gwardeisk (Tapiau) at the confluence of the municipal road 27K-065 from Druzhba (Allenburg) with the regional road 27A-025 (ex R508 ). The nearest train stations Gwardeisk and Znamensk (Wehlau) on the Kaliningrad – Chernyshevskoje railway line (Königsberg – Eydtkuhnen / Eydtkau) are each five kilometers away.
history
The founding date of the village with forestry, called Frischenau until 1946, was in the year 1368. In 1874 the place was transferred to the newly established administrative district Kleinhof (in the urban area of Tapiau or Gwardeisk). It belonged to 1945 the county Wehlau in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910, Frischenau and the Schäfereihof district had a total of 169 inhabitants.
On September 30, 1928, the two estate districts of Tiefenthamm and Stanillien (Russian: Klubitschnoje) , which had since disappeared, were incorporated into Frischenau. The population rose to 290 by 1933 and already 325 in 1939.
As a result of the war, Frischenau and northern East Prussia came to the Soviet Union in 1945 . In 1947 the place was given the Russian name "Jelniaki" and was assigned at the same time to the village Soviet Bolschepoljanski selski Sowet in Gwardeisk Raion . Since 1991, the site was developed by the urban-type settlement Snamensk administered from. From 2005 to 2014 Jelniaki belonged to the rural community Znamenskoye selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Gwardeisk.

Before 1945, the population of Frischenau was almost exclusively of the Protestant denomination. At that time the place was incorporated into the parish of the town church Tapiau (Russian: Gwardeisk) and belonged to the church district Wehlau in the church province of East Prussia of the church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Jelnjaki is in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Gwardeisk (Tapiau) , which was newly established in the 1990s , although the parish church at that time now belongs to the Russian Orthodox congregation . Gwardeisk is a branch of the Church of the Resurrection in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) in the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
