Ostrowskoje ( Russian Островское , German  Seewalde, Kreis Königsberg / Samland , lithuanian Zėvaldas ) is a place in the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast (region Königsberg (Prussia) ) and belongs to Oserkowskoje selskoje posselenije (Town Oserki (United Lindenau) ) in Gvardeysky District (District Tapiau ).

Geographical location

Ostrowskoje is located 24 kilometers southeast of the city of Kaliningrad (Koenigsberg), southeast of Lake Worien (Russian: osero Voronje) and can be reached via a side road from Berjosowka (Groß Ottenhagen) . The nearest train station is Oserki -Nowyje (Groß Lindenau) on the Kaliningrad-Nesterow line (Königsberg-Stallupönen / Ebenrode) , a section of the former Prussian Eastern Railway .

The village, called Seewalde until 1946 , was founded in 1619.

In 1874 Seewalde was incorporated into the newly established district of Ottenhagen (from 1927: Groß Ottenhagen, today in Russian: Berjosowka), which existed until 1945 and until 1939 to the district of Königsberg (Prussia) , then to the district of Samland in the district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged to. In 1910 Seewalde had 68 inhabitants.

On April 22, 1925, Seewalde merged with the neighboring village of Schäferei (no longer existing today) to form the new rural community of Seewalde. The number of inhabitants was already 160 in 1933 and 140 in 1939.

As a result of the war, Seewalde came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia in 1945 and was given the Russian name "Ostrowskoje" in 1946. In 1947 the place was assigned to the newly created Rajon Gwardeisk ( Tapiau district ) and incorporated into the Osjorski selski soviet (Dorfsovjet Oserki (Groß Lindenau) ). Today Ostrowskoje is due to a comprehensive structural and administrative reform with its current 72 inhabitants (status: October 14, 2010) as a "settlement" ( Russian possjolok ) declared place within the newly formed Oserkowskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Oserki (Groß Lindenau) ).
