Roschtschino ( Russian Рощино , German  Possinder , Lithuanian Pasindrys ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg region (Prussia) ). It is located in the west of the Gwardeisk district ( Tapiau district ) and belongs to the Slawinskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Slawinsk (Goldbach) ).

Geographical location

Roschtschino is located 23 kilometers east of the city of Kaliningrad (Königsberg) on a side road that leads from Vorobjowo (Groß Hohenrade) (on the old Russian trunk road A 229 and former German Reichsstrasse 1 ) via Malinowka (Podewitten) to Jablonowka (Bartenhof) . Before 1945 Possinder was a train station on the route from Königsberg (Prussia) via Prawten (Russian: Lomonossowo) to Tapiau (Gwardeisk) of the Königsberger Kleinbahn or Wehlau – Friedländer Kreisbahnen , which is no longer in operation.

history

Groß Possinder, east of Koenigsberg , on a map from 1910.

The village, called Possinders until 1946 , was founded in 1378. In 1874 it was incorporated into the newly formed district of Heiligenwalde (Russian: Uschakowo), which until 1939 belonged to the district of Königsberg (Prussia) , then until 1945 to the district of Samland in the district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

On December 1, 1910, 207 inhabitants were registered in Possinder. On November 15, 1928, Possinder's independence ended when the Willkühnen manor district (Russian: Golowenskoje, no longer existent) merged with Possinders to form the new rural community of Willkühnen.

In 1945 Possinds came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia and in 1946 received the Russian name "Roschtschino". Until 2009 the place was incorporated into the Borski selski soviet (Dorfsovjet Borskoje (Schiewenau) ) in Gwardeisk Rajon ( Tapiau district ) and then came - due to a comprehensive structural and administrative reform - as a "settlement" (Russian: possjolok) classified place to Slawinskoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Slawinsk (Goldbach) ).

church

Ecclesiastically, Possinders and its majority Protestant population were parish into the parish of the Heiligenwalde Church (Russian: Uschakowo) until 1945 . It belonged to the parish of Königsberg-Land II in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Paul Kortzitzki .

Today Roschtschino lies in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran parish in Gwardeisk (Tapiau) . It is a subsidiary of the Church of the Resurrection in Kaliningrad (Königsberg) , which is assigned to the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELKER).
