Cholmy ( Russian Холмы , German  nobleman Popelken ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Gvardeysk in Gvardeysky District .

Geographical location

Cholmy is located 15 kilometers northwest of the city of Gwardeisk (Tapiau) on the federal road A229 (also Europastraße 77 , former German Reichsstraße 1 ). At the village there is a branch in the north to Malinowka (Biothen and Podewitten) . There is no train connection. Until 1945 Podewitten (Malinowka) was the next train station on the Tapiau – Possinder (- Königsberg) (Russian: Gwardeisk– Roschtschino (- Kaliningrad )) of the Wehlau – Friedlander Kreisbahnen .

From 2005 to 2014 Cholmy belonged to the rural municipality of Slavinskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Gwardeisk.
