Sorino ( Russian Зорино , German  Poppendorf ) is a place in Gwardeisk Raion in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad and belongs to the municipal self-government unit of the Gwardeisk district .

Geographical location

Sorino is five kilometers north of the former district town of Znamensk (Wehlau) on the Russian trunk road R 514 . Coming from the west from Ratnoje (Freudenberg) and the extinct local point of Krasnaja Gorka (Grünhayn) a side road ends in the town. The next train station is Snamensk on the Kaliningrad – Nesterow line (Königsberg – Stallupönen / Ebenrode) of the former Prussian Eastern Railway .

The place called Poppendorf until 1946 received the hand-fest in 1355 . From 1874 to 1945 the village was in the District Green Linde (: Jerschowo today Russian) incorporated, which for Wehlau circle in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged.

In 1910, 323 inhabitants were registered in Poppendorf. Their number rose to 426 by 1933 and totaled 412 in 1939.

In 1945 Poppendorf came to the Soviet Union as a result of the Second World War with northern East Prussia and was given the Russian name Sorino in 1947. From 1947 to 2005 Sorino was the central place of a village soviet or village district. From 2005 to 2014 the place gave its name to a rural community based in Talpaki . Since then, Sorino has belonged to the Gwardeisk district .

The Sorinski selski Sovet (ru. Зоринский сельский Совет) was established in June 1947. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the administrative unit existed as the village district Sorinski selski okrug (ru. Зоринский сельский округ). In 2005, as part of local self-government, the remaining places in the village district were taken over into the newly formed rural community Sorinskoje selskoje posselenije.

The rural municipality of Sorinskoje selskoje posselenije (ru. Зоринское сельское поселение) was established in 2005. The Sorino settlement only gave its name to the municipality, the administrative seat of which was the Talpaki settlement . The municipal area encompassed an area of ​​187 km² with 16 towns each known as “settlement” (possjolok) and a population of 3,351.

Sorinskoje selskoje posselenije included 16 settlements that were previously in the village districts of Sorinski selski okrug and Kuibyshevsky selski okrug . In 2014 these places were incorporated into the urban district of Gwardeisk .
