The Reutten Basin is a broad basin in the Tyrolean Ausserfern ,  through which the Lech flows. It is the main settlement and economic area of ​​the Reutte district.

geography

The Reutten basin is around 850  m above sea level. A. and extends around 6 km in north-south direction and around 4 km in east-west direction. It is bounded by a circle of mountains of limestone rocks of different hardness with several striking peaks: To the west of the Tannheimer mountains with the Gaichtspitze  and the Hahnenkamm , the north and east of the Ammergau Alps  with the Säuling  and the Tauern and south of the Lech Valley Alps with the Thaneller . In the north there is another basin up to the Zirmgrat  , upstream the Lech Valley leads to the southwest. The  basin that has existed since the aniseed was  cleared  from the Lech glacier in the Würm glacial period .

Settlement

In the Reutte basin, in addition to the eponymous district capital Reutte, the communities Breitenwang , Ehenbichl , Höfen , Wängle , Lechaschau and Pflach , which together have around 14,000 inhabitants, more than 40% of the population of the Reutte district. Together with the communities in the north of Musau , Pinswang  and Vils , as well as Weißenbach am Lech upstream in the Lech Valley,  they form the Reutte and Surroundings Planning Association .

Economy and Transport

The Reutte Basin forms the central area of ​​the Reutte district and a junction where the transport lines ( Ausserfernbahn , Fernpassstraße , Lechtalstraße ) from the Allgäu , the Zwischenentoren , the Lechtal and the Tannheimer Tal meet. It forms the economic center of the district and, unlike the rest of the Ausserfern region, which is characterized by agriculture and tourism, is characterized by industry (including the Plansee Group ), trade and commerce.
