Wängle is a municipality with 930 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Reutte district in Tyrol ( Austria ).

location

Wängle is located west of Reutte in the Reutten basin at the foot of the Hahnenkamm skiing and hiking area . It is one of the oldest settlement areas in Ausserfern . The cluster village has largely grown together with the surrounding hamlets. The village Hinterbichl forms a municipality of Lechaschau lying exclave of the municipality.

Höfen , Lechaschau , Musau , Nesselwängle and Weißenbach am Lech .

history

Wängle was first mentioned in a document in 1278. For a long time it was the parish center of the parishes on the western side of the Lech.

In 2007/2008 the postcode was changed from 6600 to 6610. Wängle is the first municipality in the Reutten valley basin with its own postcode.

Blazon : In blue, a black robed Saint Martin riding on a silver horse over a green shield base, sharing a red cloak with the sword.

The municipal coat of arms, awarded in 1976, shows the church patron and reminds of the importance of the region as a former ecclesiastical center.

Wängle is on the sunny side of the Reutte holiday region in a quiet location. Many hiking and Nordic walking trails lead along the edge of the valley basin or over footpaths into the hiking area of ​​the Hahnenkamm.

Huts & Alms: Gehrenalpe, Lechaschauer Alpe, Schneetalalm, Höfener Alm, Cillyhütte (in winter: Cillyhütte and Singerhütte).

Wängle is on the long-distance cycle path , which runs as the Via Claudia Augusta along an ancient Roman road of the same name .
