geography

Stanzach is located at the confluence of the Namlos valley into the Lech valley . The place was first mentioned in documents in 1294 . The Almdorf Fallerschein , which has been converted into a holiday complex , also belongs to the municipality . Further settlements are also spreading above the edge of a Lech terrace.

The local mountain of Stanzach is the Nerenkopf, which is located south of the village.

Districts

Stanzach is divided into several districts. Starting in the southwest: “Hinter Egg”, “Rain”, “Froschloch”, “Dorf”, “Äule”, “Darr”, “Sand”, “Rauth” and “Blockau”.

history

Like the rest of the Lechtal, Stanzach was under the rule of the Hohenstaufen family before it came to Tyrol in 1266 . In the past, residents were repeatedly forced to emigrate to find work. According to an anecdote, Walter Ulbricht is said to have worked for a short time in a joinery in Stanzach.

The name Stanzach comes from "Stanzahe", which loosely translated means something like "stay and accommodation". The name arose because Stanzach used to be an intermediate stop for woodworkers who did their work in the area. The oldest house in Stanzach is the so-called "Älbele", as it is called by the locals. It has been passed on from generation to generation since then and has been home to the Kärle family since around 1930.

Today Stanzach is a tourist place with a focus on summer and especially winter tourism.
