Site appearance and development

The place, originally laid out as a clustered village, was an agricultural village until the second half of the 20th century, whose economic life was dominated by a manorial estate .

The Haus Rhode mansion, built in the 19th century, has been operated by Volkswagen AG since 1969 as a “management, education and communication center”. The Bundesliga soccer team VfL Wolfsburg used Haus Rhode as a training camp before home games.

Agriculture is only of minor importance in the employment structure. Today, many residents of the town pursue their acquisition in the nearby industrial city of Wolfsburg or in the regional center of Braunschweig .

Gut Bisdorf, which belongs to Rhode , has belonged to the Count von der Schulenburg- Wolfsburg since 1742 .
