Riccardo Lay

Riccardo Lay (born July 31, 1949 in Sassari ) is an Italian jazz bassist.

Lay gained his first experience as a professional musician as a member of the rock group Cadmo with Antonello Salis and Mario Paliano . He then appeared in a bass trio with Marcello Melis and Malachi Favors and a bass quintet with Bruno Tommaso , Paolo Damiani , Enzo Pietropaoli and Marcello Melis. As a sideman he worked with musicians such as Massimo Urbani , Enrico Rava , Lester Bowie , Paolo Fresu , Tristan Honsinger , John Beach , Cyro Baptista , Amina Claudine Myers , Chicago Beau , Don Moye , Sainkho Namtchylak and Pat Metheny .

Lay participated in jazz festivals all over Italy, Frank and Switzerland. The Interazioni project (with Claudio Corvini , Gavino Murgia , Marcello Peghin and Pietro Iodice ) emerged from his occupation with ethnic jazz . He appears in duo formations with Marcello Peghin, Gavino Murgia and Daniel Studer and in a trio with Pasquale Innarella and Aldo Galasso and leads the Meta Quartet (with Sandro Satta , Antonello Salis and Fabrizio Sferra ), the Riccardo Lay Quartetto (with Claudio Corvini , Gavino Murgia and Peter Iodice ) and the septet Babaiola (with Maiaclaire Garrison , Joy Garrison , Claudio Corvini, Gavino Murgia, Marcello Peghin and Pietro Iodice).
