Richard Triebe (born December 25, 1922 in Břežánky , Czechoslovakia ; † July 11, 2012 in Regensburg ) was a Sudeten German sculptor , painter , graphic artist and Regensburg cathedral builder .

Richard Triebe was born in Břežánky (German Briesen) and grew up in Telnice (Tellnitz) near Ústí nad Labem (Aussig). His father came from Obergeorgenthal . In Aussig, Richard Triebe attended the community school on Theodor-Körner-Straße. After a short period of service in the Second World War , he was taken prisoner by the British . After the end of the war he came to Regensburg. After completing his training as a sculptor with Josef Obermeier, he passed his master craftsman's examination in stone masonry and sculpting in 1952.

Since 1951 he was a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK) Niederbayern / Oberpfalz , there from 1969 to 1986 also 2nd chairman, and since 1953 in the art and trade association Regensburg . From 1957 to 1986 he worked after Josef Zentner as the last freelance director of the Regensburg cathedral construction works . His successor Helmut Stuhlfelder began studying with him in 1971. Triebe was also the home nurse of the city of Regensburg until 1998 . He created numerous, primarily delicately designed sculptures and sculptures in stone and bronze. There were also a number of prints. At the lion monument near Bad Abbach , the sculptor recreated the two monumental lions by Franz Joseph Muxel , which had been blown up in 1945, using the original heads . After working as a master builder for the cathedral, he lived in Etterzhausen until his death . He was married and had three children.
