Richard Philipp Balthasar von Hößlin

Richard Philipp Balthasar von Hößlin (born February 1, 1853 in Augsburg ; † January 23, 1930 ibid) was a Bavarian lieutenant general and treasurer .

Life

family

Richard Philipp Balthasar came from the noble family of Hosslin . He was the son of the Bavarian Colonel Moritz Wilhelm Balthasar von Hößlin (1808–1881) and his wife Frederike, born von Süsskind-Schwendi (1830–1882).

On 12 May 1881 he married in Schwendi Agnes von Susskind-Schwendi (* 22. April 1861 in Schwendi; † 27. October 1937 in Munich ). The marriage resulted in the children Hubert and daughter Frieda, who was married to Karl Markus von Welser .

Roland von Hößlin , murdered resistance fighter on July 20, 1944 and major in the Wehrmacht, was a grandson of Hößlin.

Military career

Hößlin graduated from a humanistic grammar school and was then page of the "Electoral and Royal Bavarian Pagerie". In 1871 he joined the 4th Chevaulegers Regiment "King" of the Bavarian Army as an officer candidate . From 1877 to 1880 Hößlin graduated from the War Academy , which gave him the qualification for the general staff, the higher adjutantage and the subject (tactics, military geography). In 1885 he was adjutant of the cavalry inspection, came to the central office of the General Staff the following year and in 1888 became captain of the squadron in his main regiment.

1893 Major in the General Staff, 1895 to the Central Office of the General Staff, 1897 Lieutenant Colonel in the General Staff, 1898 Chief of the General Staff of the 1st Army Corps, 1899 Commander 4th Chev.Regts., 1900 Colonel, 1902 Commander of the 3rd Cavalry Brigade, 1903 Major General, 1905 put up for disposition with the character of lieutenant general .

After his departure, Hößlin was the district representative for military youth education in the Swabian administrative district.
