The Riding Higher Benefizfestival (short Riding Higher ) is an open air - Reggae - Festival , which from the nonprofit association Move Together e. V. in Odelzhausen near Munich since 2001 .
More than 100 people volunteer for the festival . The income came from various initiatives, such as the Baobab Family Project e. V. , Handicapped Artworks e. V. , Freiraum Dachau e. V. , Cafe 104 , the Bavarian Refugee Council , Watch the Med , Friends in Need International e. V. , AMANI eV , the aid to Romania and community foundation from Odelzhausen.
Musicians and artists
Over the years, nationally and internationally known artists and musicians have performed , for example Dub Syndicate , Dubblestandart , Dub Incorporation , Uwe Banton , Bluekilla , Embryo , Jahcoustix , Berlin Boom Orchestra , Prince Alla , Don Abi , Headcornerstone , Earl Sixteen , Götz Widmann , I. -Fire , Jobarteh Kunda , Medassi , Rainer von viel and Wally Warning .
Police operation 2015
The Riding Higher became known nationwide after the Dachau police station publicly complained about the organizer's behavior.
"I have never seen a festival organizer boycott police work in this way."
The police officers were only allowed access to the festival area after registering by name, with reference to the house rules - but without the officers being given the armbands that identified them as regular guests. In addition, loudspeaker announcements were made and leaflets were issued on what to do during identity checks .
The organizer's spokesman criticized the use of 45 plainclothes police officers against the approximately 2000 visitors in 2015:
"... [A] disproportionate major action based on prejudice [...], [this is] a defamation of a certain group of cultural workers [of the reggae scene ]."
Awards
The Riding Higher Benefiz Festival was nominated for the Tassilo Prize of the Süddeutsche Zeitung in 2012 .
