Ring Freedom Youth Austria

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ring of Freedom Youth Austria ( RFJ ) is a preliminary organization of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). The current federal chairman is Maximilian Krauss . The documentation archive of the Austrian resistance assigns the RFJ to the right-wing extremist scene .

function

The work of the RFJ aims to address children, adolescents and young adults between the ages of 10 and 30. This happens not only with explicitly political work, but also with numerous leisure activities. Membership in the RFJ does not automatically include FPÖ membership.

construction

The RFJ has regional groups in all nine federal states. The regional groups send delegates to the Federal Youth Day, where the federal chairman and the federal board are elected. Since these regional groups are independent associations, there are slight differences in structure and organization. The regional groups are divided into district groups, which in turn can be divided into local groups if necessary. District groups and local groups are usually not run as independent associations, but are part of the respective regional group. The regional chairman and regional executive committee are elected by delegates from the district groups in the same way as the federal executive committee. In the district groups (and local groups) all full members are entitled to vote for the election of chairman and board. District chairmen are represented on the state board with a seat and vote. Members between the ages of 6 and 14 are cared for in the Jungvolk. The work of this body is carried out according to guidelines approved by the state executive committee. There are no political activities in the young people.

Content

According to its own statements, the RFJ is committed to the Austrian state and its integration into the German cultural and ethnic group . The immigration referred to by the RFJ as foreign infiltration is rejected. The RFJ advocates a Europe of the peoples and rejects Turkey's accession to the EU. Instead, a partnership between the EU and Eastern Europe is required. A strengthening of farmers and craftsmen is advocated. In the field of education, the RFJ calls for a depoliticization of schools , which refers to the requested abolition of the prohibition law . The RFJ also calls for the family to be strengthened.

Outside observers attest that the RFJ is closely related to neo-Nazism.

Links to right-wing extremism

The Ring of Freedom Youth is often accused of being openly xenophobic in its principles.

Christoph Töfferl, State Press Officer of RFJ-Carinthia, who presented himself on the Internet with the motto “Our honor is loyalty to our homeland”, wrote in a guest commentary in the NPD newspaper German Voice of an “organized re-population machine” and continued: “But woe , they acknowledge their German roots and are proud of their people with their 1000-year history. Then the state's bloodhounds immediately caught you. "

In April 2007, the Deutschlandsberg RFJ functionary Stefan Juritz called for the abolition of the Nazi Prohibition Act and the release of three imprisoned activists of the neo-Nazi Association of Free Youth , whom he described as "popular activists from Upper Austria" and "political prisoners". In August 2008, the Lower Austrian regional chairman of the RFJ also called for the National Socialist Prohibition Act to be abolished.

In 2007, seven RFJ functionaries in Innsbruck were sentenced to fines for making false statements in the course of investigations into Nazi re-employment.

The Salzburg regional chairman Markus Hüttenmeyer had to resign on May 8, 2018 after it became known that he had described himself as a National Socialist on Facebook .

The Federal Song of the RFJ Only Freedom Belongs to Our Life was originally composed by Hans Baumann for the Hitler Youth .

Racist comments

Because of violations of the subsidy guidelines, a commission in Styria decided not to pay out the youth support for the second half of the year in the amount of 5,000 euros, on the grounds that the RFJ had distributed "questionable, sometimes inhuman and racist statements in mailings and on leaflets". The following statements by the RFJ regional chairman Michael Winter, son of the former Graz FPÖ chairwoman Susanne Winter , were specifically objected to :

  • “[...] In the meantime, on almost every street corner, a“ Negro ”stands in the way who sells megaphones . The streets are public space on which citizens should be able to move freely and, above all, undisturbed. In the current situation, this is no longer possible due to the megaphone problem just mentioned. As the regional chairman of the RFJ-Styria, I therefore demand for everyone in Graz: Free streets instead of megaphones! "
  • "This regulation would also make a sensible contribution to road safety in Austria." (Via a possible driving ban law for women wearing veils)
  • “If the Graz ÖVP / SPÖ city government is no longer able to prevent our young people from sexual assault and brutal rape, which particularly affects young women and girls, VP- Nagl should perhaps consider taking it as an immediate measure against Muslims -Turkish rapes want to let a herd of sheep graze in the city park. "(under the heading" Better sodomy than rape "about a rape case in Graz)
  • "Because in general, sexual intercourse with animals seems to have a certain tradition in Islam." (On a sodomy case in Germany)

The RFJ-Styria describes the cancellation of the funding as "ideological terror [sic!], Which does not even exist in the largest banana republic." Michael Winter was first tried on October 6, 2008 because of one of these statements for hate speech sentenced. Since Winter did not file an appeal, the judgment became final on October 10th.

In January 2011 it was decided with the votes of the ÖVP, SPÖ, FPÖ and KPÖ to resume the promotion of the RFJ-Styria. The way to this was through a "declaration of honor" of the RFJ-members, with which they assured, never a contact to the Having had neo-Nazi website Alpen-Donau-Info and never wanting to include one. However, this very contact was immediately documented beyond any doubt by the publication of this very "declaration of honor" on the denied neo-Nazi website. A few days later it became known that a raid with a right-wing extremist background on a Graz pub in January 2010, in which several local guests were seriously injured, took place with the participation of several people close to the RFJ.

Connections to the Federation of Free Youth

In February 2007 it became known that the 2nd deputy RFJ district chairman of Linz-Land, Andreas Retschitzegger, was also active in the neo-Nazi Association of Free Youth . In July 2008, further connections between Upper Austrian RFJ activists and the Federation of Free Youth became known. Several RFJ officials were involved in BFJ activities; An illegal weapons depot was confiscated during a house search of the deputy district chairman in Perger; the former 2nd deputy chairman of Linz-Land is referred to as a leadership cadre in the indictment against four BFJ activists. In an internet forum, the chairman of the RFJ Kirchdorf described himself as a "nationalist" and a "fascist"; he wears a tattoo in the form of an Odal rune . The then Kirchdorfer district chairman was involved in a demonstration of the NPD in Rostock and in 2007 in a summer party of the BFJ.
