Bellegarde Palace (today's town hall of Rion-des-Landes)

Rion-des-Landes ( Occitan : Arrion ) (until 1962 Rion ) is a village and a former French municipality with 2,520 (as of January 1, 2017) in the Landes department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . It belonged to the Arrondissement of Dax and the canton of Pays Morcenais Tarusate (until 2015: canton of Tartas-Ouest ).

With effect from 1 January 2017 the former municipalities were boos and Rion-des-Landes of the same name nouvelle commune Rion-des-Landes joined forces and have in the new community of the status of a Déléguée commune . The administrative headquarters are located in Rion-des-Landes.

Rion-des-Landes is located approx. 27 km northeast of Dax in the historic province of Gascogne on the Retjons , a tributary of the Midouze .

Population development

The population rose from the beginning of the records to the beginning of the 19th century to a high of around 2,701. As a result, the size of the place was able to hold at a level of around 2,500 inhabitants until the merger.
