Robert Bentley "Robbie" Haines junior (born March 27, 1954 in San Diego ) is a former American sailor .

Robbie Haines was 1979 in Visby in the boat class Soling with Rod Davis and Edward Trevelyan as a crew world champion and a year secured thereon in Ponce with Davis and Trevelyan silver. In 1983 he won another world title in Los Angeles , but this time with a different crew. At the 1984 Olympic Games , which also took place in Los Angeles, he was the skipper of the US boat in the Soling class, whose crew again included Rod Ravis and Edward Trevelyan. They achieved two victories in seven races and they finished the regatta with 33.7 total points, with which they won the gold medal and became Olympic champion in front of the Brazilian boat of Torben Grael and the Canadian boat led by Hans Fogh .

In 1983, Haines graduated from San Diego State University .
