Edward Norman "Ed" Trevelyan (born August 14, 1955 in San Pedro ) is a former American sailor .

successes

Edward Trevelyan, a member of the San Diego Yacht Club , took part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles alongside Rod Davis in the Soling boat class as a crew member under skipper Robbie Haines . They achieved two victories in seven races and they finished the regatta with 33.7 total points, with which they won the gold medal and became Olympic champion in front of the Brazilian boat of Torben Grael and the Canadian boat led by Hans Fogh .

At world championships he won the title with Davis and Haines in Visby as early as 1979 and the silver medal in Ponce the following year . In both years he also succeeded in winning the title at the Kieler Woche , and in 1978 he was North American and 1979 American champions in Soling. Trevelyan was originally scheduled for the 1980 Olympic team, but missed it due to the US boycott of the Games. After his Olympic victory in 1984 he worked for North Sails for several years and eventually became a statistician at the United States Census Bureau .
