Robert Brezina (born April 14, 1974 in Beroun , Czechoslovakia ) is a former German - Czech ice hockey player .
Career
Robert Brezina was already under contract with a first division club at the age of 19, so the native Czech played for four seasons with Schwenninger Wild Wings from the 1993/94 season , where he scored 74 points in 128 games. The young striker then spent a few seasons in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey, among others in Freiburg , Braunlage and Weißwasser , where he was always one of the top scorers. During those years he changed his style of play, as he now had to play the game but hadn't gotten much match practice in the two years before.
Only the 2001/02 season at the DEL Club Krefeld was unsuccessful for him personally - the tactics of coach Chris Valentine did not suit offensive players who, like him, were used to play the puck deep and prevent goals instead of scoring goals. After the unsuccessful time in Krefeld , he moved back to the 2nd Bundesliga to the Heilbronner Falken . Brezina had to fight injuries there and could not repeat his performances from previous years.
In the 2002/03 season , Brezina returned to Freiburg for a third time and managed to get promoted to the German Ice Hockey League with the team , in which he played a major role. Brezina scored a total of 56 points this season and was able to score nine times in the playoffs in 11 games. In the following season, the 183 cm tall and 84 kg striker was among the top scorers of SC Bietigheim-Bissingen with 41 points (25 goals, 16 assists ) and fourth-best league scorer with six goals and five assists in eight in the playoffs Play.
In 2004, those responsible for the Augsburger Panthers from the DEL signed him up. However, he could not prevail again in the DEL and left the club after 18 games in the direction of Bietigheim. In the following season he joined the Schwenninger Wild Wings, for which he was active between 1993 and 1997. There he formed with Dustin Whitecotton and Dušan Frosch one of the most dangerous strikers in the 2nd Bundesliga . In the summer of 2006, the manager of the Dresdner Eislöwen , Jan Tábor , Robert Brezina offered a contract for the following season. Although he still had a valid contract in Schwenningen, he dissolved it and signed it with the Dresdeners.
At the beginning of January 2007, due to internal disagreements, Brezina was dismissed, who had been the Ice Lions' top scorer until then. After his release from the Dresdner Eislöwen, Robert Brezina was taken under contract with the REV Bremerhaven to compensate for the injuries suffered by the penguins. Robert Brezina returned to Weißwasser for the 2007/08 season . At the end of October 2007 he moved to Tower Stars Ravensburg for family reasons , which he left in November 2008 and signed another contract with EHC Freiburg, where he ended his career in 2009.
