Robert II (Burgundy)
Robert II (* probably 1248 ; † March 21, 1306 in Vernon-sur-Seine ) was Duke of Burgundy from 1272 to 1305. He was the third son of Duke Hugo IV of Burgundy and Jolanthe von Dreux .
In 1272 Robert inherited the Duchy of Burgundy , the counties of Auxonne and Chalon and the claim to the Kingdom of Thessaloniki from his father, since his two older brothers had died without male heirs . In the same year he was appointed royal chamberlain. From 1273 to 1280 he was regent of the Dauphiné , in 1285 he became lord of Pontallier . He was also a peer of France .
Robert took part in the crusade against Aragón in 1285 , as well as in several campaigns against Flanders in 1297, 1302 and 1304.
Robert had been married to Princess Agnes (* probably 1260; † December 19, 1327 (or 1325) in the Château de Lantenay ), a daughter of King Louis IX , since the spring of 1279 . of France .
Robert II - like his wife years later - was buried in Citeaux .
