Robert Jaspert (born February 26, 1960 ) is a German former football player and current coach . He is the brother of Nikolas Jaspert . Most recently he coached the Lebanese club al-Ansar until November 2017 .

Career

Jaspert was active as a player for lower-class Berlin clubs: SF Kladow, Hertha Zehlendorf , Wacker 04 , Prussia Wilmersdorf , Rapide Wedding , Weddinger FC, Westend 01 , NSC Marathon 02 and the second team from Tennis Borussia were his stations.

His coaching career also began at TeBe . First he led the second team from the association to the regional league from 1996, briefly became interim coach of the second division team after Stanislav Levý's dismissal , and took over the regional league team of Tennis Borussia on November 16, 2000 as the successor to Mirko Slomka . But after seven defeats in a row, he had to give up his post again on March 23, 2001, to Friedhelm Haebermann .

For the 2001/02 season he was in the 2nd Bundesliga at MSV Duisburg co-coach of Pierre Littbarski , with whom he had played together in the Zehlendorfer A-Jugend. Later he was the assistant coach of Jo Bonfrere in the national team of South Korea , with whom he defeated the German team at 3-1 in Busan in December 2004 under national coach Jürgen Klinsmann . He lost his post in August 2005 when Bonfrere resigned.

In March 2007 Jaspert became the coach of the Lebanese first division club al Ahed , which is supported by Hezbollah . In June 2007 his hotel room in Beirut was struck by fragments of bombs in his absence. The car bomb attack was aimed at the politician Walid Eido ; while the football players Hussein Dokmak and Hussein Neim were killed by Al Ahed's league rivals Nejmeh Club .

After a commitment at Saipa Tehran , Jaspert was Pierre Littbarski's assistant coach at FC Vaduz from November 4, 2008 . Littbarski and his team were released in April 2010. In the summer of 2015 he took over the regional league team FC Viktoria 1889 Berlin , after having previously looked after the U23s of 1. FC Union Berlin .

Jaspert used to work as a molecular biologist at the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin.
