Roberts Eidemanis even Robert Petrovich Eideman , Russian Роберт Петрович Эйдеман (born April 15 . Jul / 27. April  1895 greg. In Lejasciems ; † 12. June 1937 in Moscow ) was a Soviet Corps commander and Latvian writer.

Life

The son of a teacher did not graduate from the Petrograd Forestry Institute, attended a Kiev military school in 1916 and took part in the First World War as an ensign . In 1917 Eidemanis joined the RSDLP (B) .

During the Russian Civil War , Eidemanis fought successively against the whites at hot spots thousands of kilometers apart on the territory of the former Russian Empire . The Bolsheviks deployed the commander in theaters of war that stretched from central Siberia to the Crimea . In December 1917 he put down the uprising of the Irkutsk Cadets. In 1918 he joined the Red Army . As one of the organizers of the October Revolution in Siberia , he was elected to the executive bodies of the Siberian workers 'and soldiers' councils in Kansk . In 1918 the communist fought in Omsk and in 1919 commanded the battle of the 16th Infantry Division against General Krasnov and the 41st and 46th Infantry Divisions against General Denikin on the Don Front . In 1919 he was at the head of the 13th Army against General Wrangel . As commander of the Kharkov military district , Eidemanis fought together with Frunze in the Ukraine against Nestor Machno and Symon Petlyura in 1921 . He then represented the commander-in-chief in the armed forces of Ukraine and Crimea.

After the civil war, Eidemanis headed the Siberian Military District in 1924 and taught at the Frunze Military Academy from 1925 to 1932 . From 1932 to 1934 he was a member of the Revolutionary War Council . Since 1932 he was in front of the Society for the Advancement of Defense, Aviation and Chemistry .

Military affairs

Great terror

During the Stalin Purges , also known as the Great Terror , Eidemanis was arrested on May 22, 1937 and sentenced to death on June 11 by a non-public military tribunal together with the high military officials Tukhachevsky, Jakir and Uborevich . On June 12, 1937, Roberts Eidemanis was shot .

In 1957 - during the Khrushchev thaw - he was posthumously rehabilitated.

  • Robert Petrovich Eideman Street is in Kansk. Eideman Street in Kharkov was renamed after Russlan Plochodko.
