Roger Heman Jr.
Roger Hubert Heman Jr. (born March 28, 1932 in Los Angeles , California , † November 13, 1989 on Sanibel Island , Florida ) was an American sound engineer .
Life
Heman was the son of Roger Heman senior , an Oscar-winning film and sound engineer. He began his career in 1968 initially with television. There he worked on the television series The People from Shiloh Ranch and received a Primetime Emmy nomination in 1970 for his work on the television film My Sweet Charlie with Patty Duke in the lead role. His first feature film was the western A Woman for Charley with Dan Blocker in the lead role. In the 1970s he was involved in numerous Hollywood - blockbustersinvolved, including Giants in the Sky , In Order of the Dragon and Battle for Midway . For Steven Spielberg's horror film Jaws , he received an Oscar in the Best Sound category in 1976 together with Robert L. Hoyt , John R. Carter and Earl Madery . In 1981 he was nominated again for an Oscar for Nashville Lady . However, this time he was unable to accept the award, as well as the BAFTA Film Award , for which it was also nominated in the Best Sound category .
Heman died in 1989 at the age of 57 of complications from lung cancer . He left behind his wife and seven children.
