Rolf Rave

Rolf Rave (* 21st March 1936 in Potsdam ) is a German architect , city planner area and emeritus professors .

Life

Rolf Rave attended the Arndt-Gymnasium in Berlin-Dahlem from 1947 to 1952 . In 1955 he passed a journeyman's examination as a carpenter and then studied architecture at the HfbK Berlin until 1963 . While still a student, he did an internship with the architect Egon Eiermann in Karlsruhe . From 1963 he worked in an office community with his brother Jan Rave as Rave Architects , from 1990 Roosje Rave became a partner in the office. From 1972 to 1976 Rolf Rave was chairman of the German Werkbund Berlin . In 1978 he was appointed professor of object design at the Münster University of Applied Sciences and retired in 2002.

He is the son of the art historian and Schinkel researcher Paul Ortwin Rave .

From 1963, Rolf Rave, together with Hans-Joachim Knöfel and his brother Jan Rave, published several city guides under the title Building in Berlin . In addition to public buildings and office buildings, his built work also includes hotels and a large number of residential buildings. Rave Architects made a significant contribution during the reconstruction of Berlin in the urban renewal of Wedding . Rave described his buildings as such in an interview: "[...] which mostly corresponded to the spirit of their time and yet tried again and again to break out of the ordinary."
