Roméo LeBlanc
Roméo-Adrien LeBlanc , PC , CC , ONB (born December 18, 1927 in Memramcook , New Brunswick , † June 24, 2009 ibid) was a Canadian politician . From 1995 to 1999 he was Governor General of Canada ; he was the first Acadians in this office. Before that, he sat in the House of Commons from 1973 to 1984 . He belonged to the liberal government of Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and from 1975 to 1984 was among other things Environment Minister and Fisheries Minister. From 1984 to 1993 he was a member of the Senate and was its chairman for two years.
