Furger made his debut in the cross-country skiing world cup in December 2009 in Davos , where he finished 84th over 15 km freestyle. In the cross-country Alpine Cup , Furger achieved his first top 10 place with fifth place in the 15 km freestyle mass start race in Ortisei am Pillersee in December 2011 and then competed in the 2011/12 Tour de Ski , where he competed in the fifth stage but no longer at the start and thus did not end the stage race. Furger won the Engadin Skimarathon in March 2012 , achieved his first World Cup points on November 24, 2012 in Gällivare with a 17th place over 15 km freestyle and one day later finished fourth in the Swiss relay team. The Tour de Ski 2012/13 ended Furger after three stages, having previously as the best stage result of 79th place in the sprint in Val Müstair reached. In December 2014, he finished 21st in the sprint at the World Cup in Davos. At the Tour de Ski 2015 , Furger contested this stage race for the third time, but did not finish the tour again; on the sprint stage in Val Müstair, however, he once reached the points with 21st place. At the World Cup in Rybinsk in January 2015, he again achieved World Cup points with 16th place in the sprint and achieved another top 10 placement in the Alpine Cup with seventh place in the Campra sprint in February 2015. Furger finished 26th in the 50 km freestyle mass start race in Oslo in March 2015 . In March 2016 he won the Engadin Skimarathon for the second time. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017 , he finished 25th in the sprint, 17th in the 50 km mass start race and ninth place together with Jovian Hediger in the team sprint. The following year he ran at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on 12th place over 15 km freestyle and 11th place with the relay and together with Dario Cologna in the team sprint. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , he came in 53rd place in the 50 km mass start race and 38th in the sprint. In the 2019/20 season he finished 27th in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 and 15th in the ski tour, 40th place in the overall World Cup. He also achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with second place in the relay in Lahti.
